on the right track(s)

This past few weeks I stumbled across, started to use and grew to love the site 8tracks.com. The premise is simple, the sites creator explains it thus “8tracks is a simple way for people to create or listen to a mix, a short playlist containing 30 minutes, roughly 8 tracks of music”

Creating mixes via this site is unimaginably easy, making the process fun and more importantly painless, rather unlike other services in the genre (most of which are now tellingly extinct) which have been ugly and awkward at best.

The tracks for your mix can be added in two ways, you can upload your personal mp3’s direct to the site or you can use tracks already uploaded by others using the sites search and “network” option and from there it’s a simple drag and drop to get the tracks in the order that best flow.

The ability to follow and be followed adds great depth to the site as does the level of customization you can add to the look and style of your mixes, creating & uploading custom covers is half the fun of the site.

8tracks has quickly become my musical companion of choice for the working day…and the non working day come to think of it.
